Family Caravan

Here’s what just some of our happy customers have to say about their Rhino Caravans experience:

Hi Martin,

We are definitely happy to give you our testimony:

1- the ability to have our custom design built, the great customer service and knowledge you guys had through the initial investigation and quoting stages. Also great price you gave us for a completely custom van.

2- excellent after sales service. We have had changes and repairs needed and know we can always bring our van back to you guys and get great service over again. We also trust the build of the van and know we have a top product.

Thanks Brian & Bree (Qld)

We bought the Rhino Zambezi for many reasons, the hi rise draw bar the strength off the van and the off road capabilities and the quality of the workmanship.

Since traveling full time with it I’m amazed on the tracks it has conquered not to mention how it has sustained us as in the solar system and the insulation qualities of the wall and ceiling material all in all it’s a fantastic product.

My decision to choose a Rhino caravan was that in my view the combination of materials/fittings used, the practical and efficient design and the quality of the build all represented value for money for me. Also the operators of the company are very approachable and helpful and this gave me confidence and also made it a pleasure doing business with Rhino Caravans.

To me the benefit of owing a Rhino caravan is the reassurance that a caravan essentially built by hand and with such attention to detail, will allow me to enjoy my travels with confidence, as this product is built to last.

Thanks Greg – Stanthorpe

We are currently planning to retire in 2019, and do some longer trips. So far, longest has been 9 weeks, spent following coast south from Brisbane to Adelaide, then up Murray River to Mildura, then following Darling River towards Bourke, then going to Lightning Ridge and home.

Why we bought a Rhino:

We purchased our Rhino caravan as we wanted a heavy duty off road caravan, with specific inclusions, and had a budget in mind. I narrowed choice down to 4 manufacturers, and Rhino was surprisingly the lowest cost, although this was not why we purchased our Zambezi. Of the other 4, 1 went way over top in costing in our specific requirements, and another did not offer any warranty if used off road. Left 2 options, dearest and lowest cost. Dearest was also the heaviest, so we went with Rhino.

Being a small company, Rhino was great to work with, and whilst we had couple of issues, they were very promptly fixed, with minimal fuss and no great strain to us.

Benefits of Rhino to us are:

1) Great value for money

2) Low tare weight

3) Custom build at no real price penalty

4) Willingness to accept our choice of composting toilet over traditional cassette toilet

5) Willingness to change bed height, which affected interior cupboards

6) Amount of interior storage space

7) Size of front toolbox

8) No need for stabiliser / load level bars

9) No stone damage to rear of car from stones bouncing off van back to car. No need for stone-guard. Design of van means is not needed.

Would I buy another on if needed to: Yes !

We are so happy with the “Zambezi” Caravan and the build quality. We were equally impressed with the way that you were able to build the van to our specific requests and the benefit of building with a smaller company is that you were flexible with any minor changes we wanted to make throughout the build process. We have had a lot of positive comments on how different she is compared to other vans on the road – in terms of looks and strength. We have taken her out for a drive and she handles beautifully. We highly recommend Rhino Caravans and found both Martin and Ian to be honest and reliable. Thanks again, Steve & Liza

My wife and I bought a Rhino caravan about 8 months ago and have loved it since the day we picked it up in Logan. It is very sturdy and comfortable and having the inbuilt shower/toilet and the large wheels and excellent suspension means that we can be very much independent and can go virtually anywhere. We keep our Rhino at the house of one of our sons and we find that it is like having our home away from home. The solar panels are fabulous too and with the Anderson plug adaptor, we rarely need to plug in to mains power. We do highly recommend the Rhino van and we are grateful to Martin for his honest salesmanship.

My wife Veronica and I purchased our “Rhino” in October 2011. We had specified several accessories and extras with our van, and were delighted with Martin and Ian’s attitude to our requests. We picked up the van in Chambers Flat Queensland, and immediately (and literally) ‘took off to Bourke, Louth and beyond’ traveling on very marginal roads and tracks through outback NSW.

We then crossed the Nullarbor, towed the Rhino through sand dunes onto beaches east of Esperance, camped in rocky river beds at Pemberton, and generally toured WA, before returning to Tasmania – not bad for our first or maiden trip! We mostly free camped, and with the efficient solar and Anderson Plug system, our power requirements were totally covered.

We traveled in luxury, sometimes pinching ourselves with the realization that we could explore and enjoy our trip in so much comfort. This machine is a serious ‘piece of kit’, and a real head-turner. It’s strength and durability is unsurpassed in rough-road caravan production. We investigated other vans prior to purchasing the Rhino, but in our opinion there was nothing else on the market that could fulfill our requirements – strength, luxury, comfort, independence, genuine rough road / bush track performance, and all being towed behind a midsize 4WD.

The only negative feedback we received from Martin was his expression of jealousy when we kept him informed of our itinerary!

If you join the “Rhino Club”, you will not be disappointed.

Hi Martin & Ian

Just a short note to thank you for your great service and patience in building our new Kenya caravan. From the time we ordered our van, you and Ian made Jill and I feel like family. Nothing was to much trouble when selecting colors and making changes to the interior to suit our needs.

We have just completed our first trip to Winton and Longreach and our Kenya performed just like your service, excellent. Towing the van is easier than our previous 21ft caravan. Every place we stopped other were amazed with the room inside our Kenya, and as for the outside appearance they would just say – now that’s an off rd van.

Once again thank-you for building our dream van. We’ll keep you informed of our next trip.
